STM’s Jack A10 Bound
St. Thomas More post-graduate Maceo Jack made a verbal commitment to George Washington and interim head coach Maurice Joseph on Monday night.
The news was broken by ESPN's Jeff Goodman and confirmed shortly afterward by Jack himself who took to his twitter account to post a statement on his commitment.
Jack joins Bishop Hendricken guard Justin Mazzula to become the second New England product to commit to GW so far this season.
GW has longstanding ties in the region, and specifically at St. Thomas More, as former Chancellor Yuta Watanabe is one of the leaders of this year's team while former Worcester Academy big man Kevin Marfo is currently in his freshmen season.
The Colonials have equally deep roots into upstate New York, thanks in large part to assistant coach Carmen Maciariello, and so Jack, who graduated from Williamsville North High School in Buffalo last year, will see plenty of familiar faces.
The son of Buffalo's head women's coach, Felisha Legette-Jack, he has the basketball I.Q. and overall feel for the game that you would expect from a coach's son. Combine that with the fact that both his athleticism and his perimeter skill set have evolved at extremely rapid rates over the last couple of years and it was no surprise that his recruitment grew rapidly this fall upon arriving in the prep ranks.
A versatile 6-foot-5 perimeter player, Jack has improved by leaps and bounds in the last two years as he has both transformed his body while simultaneously extending his perimeter skill set. He played well with the New York Jayhawks at certain events this summer but saw his recruitment grow rapidly this fall upon arriving in the prep ranks.
He is the third member of STM's 2017 class to commit to a division I school as the Chancellors are now sending players to Sacred Heart, Rider, and George Washington.
