More Commitments

Early decision notices went out last week from many schools, meaning we have more division III commitments to announce, along with another commitment from the division II level.
Wesleyan Adding Talent with Speed
First year Wesleyan head coach Joe Reilly is quickly making a major impact as he has landed a player who has the talent to be a star in the NESCAC. Noble & Greenough’s Derick Beresford is heading to Wesleyan. The point guard is good enough to come right in and challenge for a starting spot in the Cardinal’s line-up. Not only is he one of the fastest and quickest players around, but Beresford is also extremely skilled. He makes plays off the dribble for himself and others, can knock down the three ball, and also has a tremendous mid-range game as he thrives at creating space for his dribble pull-ups.
O’Keefe Headed to NE-10
All summer long as we watched Danny OKeefe put up big numbers with his Raiders AAU team we heard the same thing…”he’s a classic NE-10 kid”. And while the rugged and versatile forward did end up attracting division I interest before it was said and done, in the end he is indeed headed to arguably the best division II league in the country as he has committed to Bentley. O’Keefe becomes the third New England product to commit to the Falcons joining Greg Jacques and Michael Topercer. This season, O’Keefe is one of the big reasons why his Lexington High School team is one of the favorites in the MIAA.
Bates Lands Local Product
It appears as if the Bobcats haven’t missed a beat in recruiting behind first year head coach Jonathan Furbush. Bates recently received two commitments for next season, including one from one of Maine’s most talented seniors. Eddie Bogdanovich, a 6’6” face-up four man from nearby Portland High School, will head to Lewiston next year. Bogdanovich is a player who is expected to put up big numbers over the next four years as he has the size and skill set to produce both inside and out. He had even attracted some scholarship level interest this summer thriving with his MB Nation AAU team.
New Canaan High School Duo Commits
Joe Sindelar and Jamie Pares have formed a potent 1-2 punch for New Canaan high school in recent years. But next year they will be going their separate ways. Sindelar will be headed to the University of Rochester while Pares will join Bogdanovich to form another inside-out duo at Bates. Sindelar is a player who has the size and ability to make an immediate contribution at Rochester as there aren’t a whole lot of 6’9” big men with skills floating around the division III level. Meanwhile, Pares is a player who will provide great stability to the Bates backcourt as he is an intelligent point guard who makes excellent decisions with the ball in his hands.
