When the school year resumes in a few short weeks Shabazz Napier will not return to Charlestown High School.  Instead, the talented point guard will head to Lawrence Academy, where he will follow in the footsteps of another point guard from the Metro Boston AAU program.

Few players helped themselves more during the month of July than Shabazz Napier.  The point guard took Orlando by storm as he put on a series of commanding performances over the course of the AAU Super Showcase and the AAU Nationals.

Now Napier hopes to keep that recruiting attention coming as he will transfer to Lawrence Academy and reclassify to the class of 2010.  Napier will fill the gap left by the graduation of Stevie Mejia, another point guard who has thrived in the Metro Boston AAU program.

It was only a few weeks ago that Napier was a player still flying fairly low under the radar.  But that all changed in Orlando where the sharp-shooter knocked down 10 three-pointers in a single game and went for over 25+ points on several occasions.  Now he is generating a seemingly endless range of interest with schools all the way from the Big East to America East having made contact.

Napier will join another long distance marksman, Denzel Brito, in the Lawrence Academy backcourt.  The duo should certainly be able to put points on the board in a hurry.  Combine that with do-it-all forward Daryl Cato-Bishop, who will return to LA for his senior season next year, and Lawrence should have no problem remaining one of the top teams in Class C.
