Parker-Rivera Makes his Pick

St. Joseph’s forward verbals to CAA program with local roots.

Dominoes continued to drop throughout the class of 2012 on Monday with Timajh Parker-Rivera becoming the fourth New England product to make a decision by the time the day finally came to an end. 

Parker-Rivera made a verbal commitment to former URI and Providence assistant coach Pat Skerry, who is in his first year at the helm of the Towson program. 

“Coach Skerry has been recruiting me since he was at Pittsburgh and Providence,” Parker-Rivera said, “and Coach Murray called me the first day they got the job to offer me and has been in constant contact ever since so I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff.” 

Following a state championship during his junior season at St. Joseph’s High School, Parker-Rivera turned in a successful summer with the Connecticut Basketball Club before cutting his list to just four schools in Boston University, Iona, Temple, and Towson.  Ultimately, he visited BU and Towson before making his decision. 

“I went down to Towson two weeks ago and really liked the campus and the players,” he told the New England Recruiting Report.  “Coach Skerry came to my school and spent time talking to my family and I knew I wanted to commit.” 

Parker-Rivera becomes the latest piece in what is quickly becoming a stellar first recruiting class for Skerry.  The six-foot-seven forward is the fourth player to commit to Skerry in the class of 2012 joining New Hampton big man Barrington Alston, and a talented point guard duo of Frank Mason and Jerome Hairston. 

“Jerome and I were on campus at the same time,” Parker-Rivera said, “and we really hit it off.  With all of us coming in at the same time, we feel like we really have a chance to put Towson on the map.”
