Vermont native & Cushing Academy post-graduate makes decision.

Cushing Academy point guard Kyle Callanan finally put an end ot his recruitment on Wednesday when he made a verbal commitment to Southern Connecticut.

The Owls were just one of four division II programs to offer the Vermont native a scholarship during his post-graduate year while he also accumulated a steady dose of division I interest.

His decision is the final chapter in what can only be described as a tremendous high school and prep career.

Prior to arriving at Cushing Academy, Callanan starred at Mount Anthony Union High School in Vermont where he finished his career as the school's all time leader in both points and assists.

He had similar success on the AAU circuit, coming up through the ranks with the Albany City Rocks and proving himself against the top competition on the Nike circuit.

During his post-graduate year at Cushing, Callanan took his game to another level averaging 17 points, 6 assists, and only 1 turnover per game while out-dueling many of the top points guards the NEPSAC has to offer and leading the Penguins to a 23 win season.

The six-foot-two point guard now joins a talented incoming recruiting class at Southern Connecticut where he will provide head coach Mike Donnelly with a pure point guard known for his high basketball I.Q., three-point shooting, and ability to make his teammates better.
