Hartford Gets Their Man

New England Recruiting Report

The University of Hartford picked up a verbal commitment this week just in time for the early signing period.

With presumably only one open scholarship in the class of 2010, the University of Hartford had the luxury of taking their time to make sure they got just the piece they needed.  On Wednesday night they found that piece in Mustafaa Jones, a five-foot-eleven guard from Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia as Hawks’ head coach Dan Lebowitz tapped into his old stomping grounds from his days as a Temple assistant to land the commitment.

Jones averaged seven points and six assists last year for the Saints, one of the top high school basketball teams in the country, and is the fourth member of his team to commit to a division I school this year joining Tony Chennault (Wake Forest), Daniel Stewart (Rider), and Tyreek Dureen (LaSalle).

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Jones selected Hartford over Hampton, New Hampshire, Columbia, and Brown.
