About Us

New England Basketball Services was created in August of 2006 to form new avenues of exposure and instruction for players in the New England region.  Our two separate divisions work in close connection to each other in order to provide a complete scope of services.

We strive to first help players maximize their potential with a variety of instructional programs.  Additionally, many of our tournaments and other events provide the highest levels of competition that are a necessity for any player’s development.

We also go to great lengths to ensure that our region's players are receiving maximum exposure to college coaches, scouting services, other media outlets, and fans throughout the country.  Our greatest tool in that endeavor is the New England Recruiting Report which includes a scouting service available only to college coaches as well as our web site which has become the #1 authority on high school and prep school basketball in New England.

Adam Finkelstein manages the day to day operations of New England Basketball Services.  His responsibilities include serving as the editor of the New England Recruiting Report, managing the content of NewEnglandRecruitingReport.com, coordinating many of our exposure events, and directing our individual instruction program.  Currently Adam also serves as the New England editor for Hoop Scoop Online.  His experiences in the game include stints on the high school, college, and professional levels.  Most recently he has served as the head basketball coach at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT.  Prior to that, he was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Hartford and Western Connecticut State University where he helped develop three players who went on to play professionally, and won a total of three championships.  Adam has also spent time working as a scout for Marty Blake & Associates of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

J.R. Hargreaves developed the concept of New England Basketball Services.  He then did the research and leg work that led to the company’s creation in 2006.  Having played high school and division I college basketball in New England, J.R. knows first hand the importance of instruction and exposure programs.  While playing at Central Connecticut State University, he founded and coached his own AAU program called Youth Dynasty.  Two years later Youth Dynasty merged with several other local AAU programs to create the Connecticut Basketball Club, where J.R. also serves as a director.  J.R. has coached a variety of division I players in recent years including Doug Wiggins (UConn), Chauncey Hardy (Sacred Heart), Ryan Litke (Sacred Heart), Matt Hill (UMass), Mike Moore (Fordham), Kyle Wright (Stony Brook), Chris Baskerville (Central Connecticut), Jerome Dyson (UConn) and Hasheem Thabeet (UConn).
